Somatic Experiencing and Hypnotic Ego-State Therapy with Maggie Phillips Ph.D in Zurich, March 9 to 12 2013
As you may know, Ego-State Therapy is one of the foremost therapeutic methods used to heal inner conflict related to posttraumatic and dissociative symptoms, such as complex PTSD, and can help unlock a whole range of clinical issues including chronic and atypical pain, immune system imbalance, depression, anxiety, and panic. Adding Somatic Experiencing principles to Ego-State approaches provides more depth and permanence to this process, promoting healing from the body level up, assisting with self-regulation, and managing and promoting sensorimotor integration through completed somatic patterns. The fourth day - 12 March - will focus on Freedom From Pain, Maggie's latest book co-written with Dr. Peter Levine, which is being translated into German. After the completion of all four days of training, participants will receive the e-book Empowering the Self through Ego-State therapy, co-authored with Claire Frederick, MD, as well as audio downloads of the Freedom From Pain course taught with Peter Levine. To register and learn more, download the flyer pdf, go to Ökologie, call +41-44-218 80 80, or email to info@traumahealing.ch |

Booking now: two-day workshop with Peter Levine in London in May - open to all
Emotional Self-Regulation, the Body and Change - Working with Difficult Feelings 28 and 29 May, as part of the Breath of Life Conference 2013. In practicing therapeutic work, therapists are often confused about the role of emotions. Sometimes therapists and body-workers think that they are supposed to avoid emotions, whilst others may have been trained to “go after them - to get them out.” While it is true that intense emotional eruptions can interfere with one’s life, there is a deeper truth: that helping clients access their natural emotions and learn from them is an important part of good depth therapy and an enhancement to life. Emotional self-regulation, as this workshop will explore, is essential to lasting integration and wholeness. In this regard, we will explore how certain emotions (such as disgust and anger) are “gatekeepers” and essential to opening to other feelings which, together, promotes a fuller, wiser, more vital and creative life. Cost: £230 if payment is received by March 31, or £250 after that date. For more information click here, contact the conference organiser, or download the conference flyer here (pdf). |

THE SOMA APPROACH: Treating emotional dysregulation with the use of touch, movement and embodiment.
An introduction workshop with Sonia Gomes & Marcelo Muniz, 21st – 23rd October 2012, in the Netherlands. SOMA is a body-oriented approach that uses touch, movement and embodiment to address one of the most significant effects of traumatic stress, namely, emotional dysregulation. It was developed by Sonia Gomes and Marcelo Muniz and is based on their many years of experience in the field of body-oriented therapy. It also incorporates the theories of Peter Levine, Ida Rolf, Stephen Porges, and Hubert Godard. The SOMA approach is unique in the way that it integrates these theories into a body-oriented method. During the workshop participants will be taught and practice the use of appropriate touch in situations where the client is engaged in movement, sitting in a chair or lying down on a massage table. Participants will also engage in movement exercises and exercises for tracking movement in the body. Myofascial techniques form an important part of the training and are used with the specific aim of improving mobility and releasing traumatic restrictions in the fascia, diaphragm, joints, viscera and core. The aim of the exercises is to help release constrictions in the body and posture thereby promoting new possibilities for self-expression, improved health and well-being. Download the flyer here.
