My journey into trauma healing began with my own lived experience. As a child, I suffered from Child hood sexual abuse for 7 years which led to deep anxiety, chronic overwhelm, fear, and loss and grief. Life often felt unsafe, unpredictable, and too much to bear. But I found a kind of sanctuary in horses. I had a pony as a child, and even then, I sensed the profound calm and connection they offered — something I didn’t experience anywhere else.
Years later, after becoming a mother, I returned to horses. I needed them back in my life. I knew, instinctively, that the healing I was still searching for could be found in their presence. That’s when Harry came into my life — a horse who became my greatest teacher. Harry wouldn’t let me ride him until I learned to regulate my emotions. He mirrored my inner world, showing me the power of nervous system awareness and somatic healing in real time. His wisdom cracked something open in me, and I realised this was the path I had to follow.
I founded The Way of the Horse over a decade ago, born from this transformational relationship. I knew that horses held a kind of magic — a deep, intuitive way of working with people that bypassed the mind and went straight to the heart and body. I trained as an Equine Facilitated Learning Instructor in the UK and continued my studies in the USA and Spain to deepen my understanding of trauma, embodiment, and relational healing. In 2020 we were featured in the Daily Mail , BBc news and also in magazines Bella, Best & Peoples friend for my work with the front line workers in the Pandemic
In 2020, I began training in Somatic Experiencing®, the body-based trauma modality developed by Dr. Peter Levine — whose work with animals deeply resonated with my own. Now having just completed and qualified I am now a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and this has brought everything together: my love of nature, my intuitive bond with animals, and my commitment to breaking the intergenerational cycle of trauma — not just for myself, but for my children and those I work with.
My approach is holistic, rooted in body-based awareness, nature, and the deep wisdom of horses. I support people in returning to themselves — to safety, connection, and emotional resilience — using tools that are gentle, powerful, and transformative through the wisdom of animals and nature.
